Rumble Bees Weekend Preview

Battle Creek Rumble Bees (1-25-0-0) vs Danville Dashers (13-10-1-2)

The Rumble Bees will head to David S. Palmer Arena for the second time this season to face the Danville Dashers in a two game set. The Bees will be hoping to continue the momentum they built last weekend in Elmira with the first win in franchise history Friday night. This will be a tough task against one of the stalwart franchises in the FPHL. So far the Rumble Bees have struggled against these Dashers, losing all 3 meetings between the two clubs. However, this will be a very different Rumble Bee lineup than in the first 3 match ups as only 9 players that suited up for the November 27th game in Palmer Arena remain on the roster. Forward Jake Mortley who notched his first 2 professional goals during the Elmira series, including a game-winner, is among the acquisitions made by General Manager and Head Coach Adam Stio since the last trip to Danville.

In contrast to the youth the Rumble Bees bring to the ice, Danville has a very experienced team with veteran presences in their locker room including Justin Brausen and A.J. Tesoriero who have been a part of the franchise since the 2013-14 season. Head Coach Ray Tremblay is in his first season at the helm of the club but suited up for the Dashers from 2011 until 2016. Despite all of the experience on the team 2nd year player Fred Hein has been the real standout in Danville this season, tallying 18 goals and 15 assists to lead the team in both categories. The Dashers currently sit 2nd in the West Division on points with 43 and 3rd on winning percentage.

This weekend will also be a homecoming of sorts for many of the Battle Creek players that have previously donned the orange and black of Danville. Rumble Bees leading scorer Ryan Alves is among the most notable having been teammates with Coach Tremblay during the 2013-14 season and returning for a 2nd season with the organization last year. Forward Marco Luciani is also very familiar with this Dasher team having played 12 games with them at the beginning of the season before being traded to Battle Creek.
