Rumble Bees Force OT in Watertown, Pick Up 1 Point

Night two of the Rumble Bees excursion to upstate New York to face the Watertown Wolves would prove to be much grittier game than Friday's affair. The 4 minutes of penalties that were seen Friday night would be matched within the first four minutes of Saturday's game. Neither team would let these opportunities go to waste either as both teams converted their initial power play opportunity to bring the score to 1-1 at the end of the first period.

The second period would belong to Willie Daigneault and the Rumble Bees as the newcomer would notch a pair of goals in the period. This would bring the Battle Creek lead to 3-1 just past the halfway point in the game. The Wolves would come storming back at the end of the second period adding a second power play goal in the 16th minute. The Watertown momentum would carry over into the third as the Wolves would take advantage of another Rumble Bees mistake to get the equalizer during another power play.

The Rumble Bees defense would manage to hold off the Wolves onslaught for the remainder of regulation to force the first overtime in Rumble Bees history. The Rumble Bees inexperience in a 3-on-3 situation would show early in the OT as the Watertown Wolves would take advantage of the open ice and add the winning goal less than one minute into the extra period. Nevertheless the Rumble Bees will return to Battle Creek with an additional point on the table in a season where points have been hard to come by and proof that they can compete with the top teams in this league.

The Rumble Bees will be back in action on Friday and Saturday night at The Rink against in-state rival Port Huron. Friday night will be Ladies Night meaning all women get in for $5 and will also be Super Hero Night with a costume contest during first intermission. Saturday will be Star Wars Night and feature many local fan groups as well as special storm trooper jerseys to be worn by the Rumble Bees that will be auctioned off during post-game. Ticket to both games are currently available online or at the Rumble Bees box office.
