Bringing in the New Year Right

The Battle Creek Rumble Bees started out 2020 with a bang in Elmira, New York. The Rumble Bees spoiled the Elmira Enforcers Guaranteed Win Night with a 2-1 victory on Friday night. After 24 losses including a heart breaking 6-5 defeat at home to these same Enforcers the Rumble Bees are finally in the win column. Goaltender Joel Eisenhower also notched his first professional victory stopping 41 of the 42 shots he faced while battling through a lower body injury that occurred in the first period.. Newcomer Jake Mortley also had a career night scoring the game-winning goal for the Rumble Bees to go along with an early assist. Mortley would be named 1st star of the game for his efforts.

Battle Creek was unable to carry that momentum into Saturday's rematch. In what was a very hard fought game between two rivals that were meeting for the 4th time in 16 days Elmira managed a 6-3 victory. A returning Ahmed Mahfouz played an integral role in the Enforcers offense scoring a hat trick to go along with 2 assists for the Elmira captain. Tempers flared during the game as the two teams combined for 112 penalty minutes including 4 fighting majors apiece. The Rumble Bees will be looking for another performance like they had Friday night in Elmira during their upcoming series with the Danville Dashers.
