Bees Blanked on Night One in Danbury

Friday night did not go as planned for the Battle Creek Rumble Bees as they traveled to Connecticut to face the East Division leading Danbury Hat Tricks. The two 2019 expansion franchises have seen their inaugural campaigns go wildly different as the Battle Creek squad has struggled to a 1-30 record this season while Danbury has managed to pickup 61 points this season, the second best in the FPHL. The clash between the two foes went similar to the way the seasons have gone for the clubs. Danbury's Carter Shinkaruk managed a pair of goals early to get the Hat Tricks off to an early lead and Cory Anderson would add a third to end the first period with a 3-0 advantage. Anderson would add his second goal on a powerplay early in the 2nd and Shinkaruk would complete a hat trick for his aptly named club late in the 2nd in what would turn out to be the final goal of the night. Danbury's defense would stifle the Bees holding Battle Creek to only 23 shots on goal, all of which would be stopped by Hat Trick goalie Dillon Kelley. While Battle Creek was unable to record anything in the goal column during the game a couple of players did fill up the PIM column of the scorecard with newcomer Willie Daigneault and former Hat Trick Adam Howey both picking up fighting majors during the 3rd period.

The Rumble Bees will be looking for a better outcome in tonight's final meeting against the Hat Tricks. Puck drop is at 8 pm from Danbury Ice Arena. You can follow all of the action from the road live with Terry Ficorelli on WFAT 102.7.
